CHHATHA

Chhatha is one of the greatest festivals of Hindus all over the world. In Nepal it is mainly celebrated in region and the Tara i  people who live Kathmandu also celebrate it in Kathmandu. It is specially related Maithili community and falls on the sixth day of Karlik Shukla fortnight, four days after the Bhai Teeka. It is the festival of praying the sun god. On the fifth day of Karlik Shukla fortnight the people have fast and worship the setting sun. At night hey eat some fresh herbal foods. On the sixth day early in the morning, the go to the nearby riger, light lamps, offer Argha, the mixture of cow milk, curd, ghee, honey and dybo,  a grass special. They all stay there troughout the day an the night. Nixt morning they worship the rising sun by offering the Argha again and end their fast. After that the family members return home and end eat various type of delicious and frish foods such as sweets, fruit rtc. Non-vegetarian foods such as meat, eggs etc. an glad in this festival. Everybody looks happy and god by flowers and lamps look so beautiful and pleasant.
