The Value of Games and Sports

The main objective of education is mind, Physical, moral and spirituous development of a student. A sound body has a sound mind cannot be found in a sick body. Books develop the mind whereas games and sports develop the body. Hence, games and sports are a part and parcel of education.  Games and sports teach students leadership discipline,  team spirit and sportsmanship. If they take qualities today, they become the ideal citizens of tomorrow. An old proverb Health is wealth is equally true even today. Students can build their health simply by playing different games and sports in the open and fresh air. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Our country does not need book-worms with sunken cheeks and eyes.

Friendship

Man is a social animal. He cannot live without company. He needs someone to his joys and sorrows. He wants someone to play with and talk to. Every man is different from the other. But there are some common points between the two. Those who have common interest and temperament may become friends. But their friendship lasts for a short time. So common friendship and sentiments are necessary for friendship. A real friend is a great source of joy in life. We can pass our days happily in the company of friends. Man cannot live alone. A true friend share our joys. Our life is full of joys and troubles. But a true friend is rare in the world. Selfishness friends are many .

Travel Broadens the Mind

At times we travel to see our relatives. Tourists travel for pleasure. Some travel to work. For students travelling is a necessary part of education. Travelling has a great educational value. In the words of Bacon, Travelling in the younger is a part of education, in the older a part of experience. Tavelling teaches student better than books do in the sense that they learn faster by seeing things directly around. We may not beliece in what we read about a place of historical importance. But once we travel and observe the very place, our doubts are removed straightway.

The Season I do not Like

Mostly I do not like the summer season. This season is very painful to me. The morning is dull and hot. The sun is scorch y. It is so hot that we cannot go out easily. It grows more uncomfortable when it is after afternoon. If we are in towns and cities, air is  blocked and roof is hot. The summer season burns us at noon. The sun looks like a mass of flames. People get heat strokes and many of them die. We do not feel comfortable even within the four walls of our houses.

Dowry System

A dowry is money or property. It is given to the daughter by her parents. When she gets married she takes it to her home. The system of giving dowries is a social evil. It is common and prevalent especially in the south part of the country. Now the custom of dowry has become widespread. Dowries are given to daughters in many forms. In my opinion there are not any good sides in giving dowries to daughters. The dowry encourages the corruption among people. It can break relationship between husband and wife. Brides who bring less than expected dowry are badly treated by their in-laws and other relatives. As a result many of them commit suicide, burn themselves, take poison, kill themselves by hanging or their in-laws kill them.

The Earthquake

An earthquake is a sudden, violent shaking of the earth is surface. At the time of earthquake, the trembling is sometimes mild but something very violent. The inside of the earth is a very hot buring mass of liquid matter. Because of some reason the heated matter becames cool in some part. then it contracts. The upper down. Then this produces cracks on the surface of the earth. The water of the ocean flows down through these cracks and comes in touch with the hot liquid and steam is produced. It wants to rush out and the earth is violently shaken. If the earthquake is mild, it does not do much harm. But if it is violent loss effect is dangerous. It causes a great loss of life and property. Many brick-built houses fall down when the earth tremnles for two to three minutes. Something the water of ponds and rivers swells all on a sudden and sometimes the water of a river or a part of the ocean is dried  up, and land appears there.

Co- education

Co-education means the education of boys and girls together in the same school or campus and at the same time. Now this type of education has been common all over Nepal. In our country a few schools and campuses yet still educate only girls. We can take padma Kanya Campus in Kathmandu for example. In the past there were some conservative people who were against co-education. They were even against the education of girls or women. Co-education is not a new thing for us now. Stephen Leacock, a famous American education alist was also against co-education. He argued, Men cannot study when women are around.
