TEEJ

Teej is one of the greatest festivals of Hindu women. It falls on the month of Bhadra. Married Hindu women first of all take a bath and wear beautiful clothes with dazzling ornaments. Some women celebrate it in their Maiti [parents home] where all their sisters gather. Almost all of them wear red sari, blouse and various types of ornaments. They worship lord shiv and pray for good health and long life of their husbands. Even some unmarried girls have a fast. They worship and pray lord shiv for the good and lovely husband future. In the previous day of Teej the women eat . Various kinds of foods as a special meal DAR. They also have dar at mid-night. But on the day of Teej, they nothing. It is said that some of the women do not drunk even a single drop of water. Some women invite their priest to perform religious rituals. Most of them go the temples of lord shiv and worship. They pray lord shiv. Then they sing and dance freely. They sing songs of happiness and sorrow.
